Getting started
How do I create a Poly Portfolio account?
You can sign up with an email address in under a minute. Your Poly Portfolio account is separate from your Polymarket account: Poly Portfolio is where you browse and manage baskets, while your funds and positions live on Polymarket. After signing up, you'll be prompted to connect your Polymarket account before you can make your first purchase.
How do I connect my Polymarket account?
You connect your Polymarket account by generating an API key on Polymarket and pasting it into Poly Portfolio's settings. Step by step:
- Log in to your Polymarket account.
- Go to your account settings and generate an API key.
- In Poly Portfolio, open Settings → Connections and paste your credentials.
- Click Connect. You'll see a confirmation once the link is live, and your available balance will appear in the top bar.
Your API key authorizes Poly Portfolio to place orders through your account. It does not give us the ability to withdraw your funds.
Do I need money in my Polymarket account before buying a portfolio?
Yes. Poly Portfolio executes trades using the balance in your own Polymarket account, so you need sufficient funds there before purchasing a basket. The balance shown in the top bar of Poly Portfolio reflects your available Polymarket funds. To add funds, deposit directly on Polymarket — deposits cannot be made through Poly Portfolio.
Buying & selling portfolios
How do I buy a portfolio?
Open any portfolio page and click Buy this portfolio. Before confirming, you'll see exactly what the purchase includes: every market in the basket, each contract's current price, the YES/NO direction, and the basket's average price. After you confirm, Poly Portfolio places the underlying orders across all markets through your connected account.
Why did my fill price differ from the price I saw?
Prices on event markets move continuously, and your orders fill at the best available price at the moment they execute — which can differ from the price displayed when you clicked buy. The gap (slippage) is usually small but can widen in fast-moving or thinly traded markets. The portfolio page's average price is a snapshot, not a guaranteed execution price.
How do I sell a portfolio or exit a position?
You can sell the whole basket in one click. Open My picks, select the portfolio, and choose Sell. You can sell the entire basket or individual positions. Because your positions live in your own Polymarket account, you can always manage or close them directly on Polymarket as well — Poly Portfolio will reflect those changes the next time your account syncs.
What happens when a market in my portfolio resolves?
When an event resolves, contracts on the winning outcome pay out $1.00 each and losing contracts expire at $0 — this settlement happens on Polymarket automatically, and the proceeds appear in your Polymarket balance. Your portfolio's performance on Poly Portfolio updates to reflect the resolution. Resolved markets remain visible in your portfolio history so you can review how each basket played out.
Account & security
Is my money safe with Poly Portfolio?
Poly Portfolio never holds your funds — everything stays in your own Polymarket account. The API connection you authorize allows order placement through your account, not withdrawals. That said, an API key is a sensitive credential: anyone who obtains it could place trades through your account, so treat it like a password.
How do I disconnect Poly Portfolio from my Polymarket account?
You can revoke access at any time, in two places: delete the API key from your Polymarket account settings (this severs the connection immediately and is the most thorough method), or remove the connection in Poly Portfolio under Settings → Connections. Revoking access does not affect your existing positions — they remain in your Polymarket account and you can manage them directly on Polymarket.
Fees & limits
What does Poly Portfolio cost?
Poly Portfolio does not charge a fee.
Troubleshooting
My API connection failed — what should I do?
Most connection failures come from incomplete or expired credentials. Check, in order: that you copied the full key with no leading or trailing spaces; that the key hasn't been revoked or regenerated on Polymarket (regenerating invalidates the old one); and that your Polymarket account is in good standing. If all three check out and the connection still fails, contact support at support@buypolyportfolio.com with the approximate time of the failed attempt. Never share your API key itself in a support message.
My balance or positions look wrong
Poly Portfolio displays data synced from your Polymarket account, and there can be a short delay after trades, deposits, or resolutions. If a discrepancy persists, compare against your Polymarket account directly — Polymarket is always the source of truth for your actual balance and positions.
A buy went through partially — some markets filled, others didn't
Baskets are executed as multiple orders across separate markets, and occasionally one leg fails to fill — usually due to thin liquidity or a sudden price move in that market.
